The Iberian Championship is an orienteering competition between Portugal and Spain that occurs once every year since 1992, alternately in one country and in the other. Last year it took place in Granada - Spain. This year's edition will was held in Portugal, in the area of Santo Tirso. The VIII Iberian Championship is exclusively reserved to the National Selections of Portugal and Spain.

Simultaneously took place the I Santo Tirso Orienteering G.P., a foot orienteering event, open to all ages. Individual classes, pairs, beginners and group courses were available.

MAP and TERRAIN

Maps at scale 1/10.000 with 5m contour interval, drawn according to standard IOF rules on the responsability of the Portuguese Orienteering Federation (FPO).
Field work done in May 2000 by Alexander Shirinian, Alexander Glusco and Konstantin Volkov.
Revised in October 2000 by Victor Dobretsov.

Stony ground, medium reliev and many rock details. Pine and Eucaliptus forest crossed by paths. Variable runnability and some areas of dense vegetation.

PRIZES and SOUVENIRS

Awards to the overall top 5 in H21E/A and D21E, and top 3 in the other classes, except Beginners (lottery).
Trophy for the 5 best ranked clubs.
Each participant will be presented with a souvenir.
T-shirts to anyone who finishes the second Stage.
